Abstract:
This study examines the professional architecture ecosystem in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) by analyzing the relationship between architectural education governance and the conversion rate of registered architects. Using a macro descriptive quantitative approach, secondary data from BPS, PDDikti, and IAI were analyzed through an objective SWOT matrix and documentary triangulation. Findings reveal a structural gap, with a professionalization rate of only 0.45% and an architect-to-population ratio of 1:112,200. The absence of a local Professional Architecture Education Program (PPAr) creates a geographic bottleneck that may contribute to brain drain toward Java. Combined with the limited number of STRA holders and the absence of localized Provincial Licenses, this condition may increase dependence on external architects in NTT’s formal construction market. The study identifies a broken professional pipeline and recommends tripartite synergy between DAI, IAI, and APTARI through hybrid/online PPAr, service-bond scholarships, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to strengthen the local professional ecosystem.
